PERI NAMDOLING TAMANG GONPA

Pheri Namdrolling Tamang Gonpa is located near the highway of Maniram. The name Maniram, a reference to a hill standing at the back of this place. A stone at the top of the hill used to shine in the moonlight. It was believed that shining stone was the wish-fulfilling jewel or mani. It is believed that the name Maniram is derived from this jewel. This Gonpa was built by Lama Yongten Dorjee Tamang commonly known as Dong Mhe Mhe (grandfather in Tamang language) with the help of local villagers. The Gonpa is twenty years old and is allied to Alhalay Gonpa of Namchi. The main altar contains the statues of Shakyamuni Buddha, Gurupadmashamva, and Avalokitesvara. This institution is classified as Mani Lhakhang by the Ecclesiastical Department.
